Till fraud – disclosure opportunity

HMRC has recently arrested a number of people who are suspected of providing software used to manipulate till data.

There is a specific disclosure opportunity open until 5 January 2023 for those who may have used such software and underpaid tax. Once registered by 5 January, a disclosure can follow.

HMRC is likely to have details of the customers of the arrested suspects, so anyone having purchased and used this type of software is advised to make a proactive disclosure before the 5 January deadline – penalties are lower that way and we can help you to control the process, as opposed to facing an intrusive investigation.

At inTAX we have many years of experience assisting clients to make disclosures when things have gone wrong. We also assist those under enquiry to ensure that if there is any additional tax to pay, it is the right amount.

If you think you have a disclosure to make, or if you are already under enquiry, we can help. Get in touch now and one of our experienced, friendly and non-judgmental team can talk you through your options.

More information on disclosures can be found here.
